Marvel Munchies

Snacks and movies go hand-in-hand like butter and toast. Popcorn and candy have become the traditional viewing partners to any blockbuster but that doesn't mean those are where movie snacks begin and end. If you want a healthier option to munch on while watching the Avengers avenge stuff, you don't have to settle. You can have a flavorful, guilt-free snack that's themed to pair nicely with any Marvel movie and the drive to emotionally eat away your feelings that comes with it.

Here are three Marvel themed, healthy, and delicious movie or party snacks. Choose one or make all three: Very Berry Cap, Muenster Mjolnir, and Ants on a Log.

Melissa didn't use a big enough plate and she made the mistake of using paper to take it to a party. Learn from her mistakes. Don't be like Melissa.

Very Berry Cap

Ingredients:

1 package Strawberries

1 package Raspberries

1 package Blackberries or blueberries

1 bag Marshmallows (regular size)

1 bag Marshmallows (small size)

1 metal, star-shaped cookie cutter (medium to small)

Wash all the fruit

Cut the green top off the strawberries

Arrange an outer circle of the strawberries on a non-stick plate (plastic or anything but paper, Melissa made that mistake and the wet, juicy berry stuck to the paper plate and a paper-trimmed strawberry wasn't what she was really wanting. Still delicious, though. Mmmm… paper berry.) The outer circle should be about the entire package of strawberries and the circumference of the platter/plate.

On the inner side (working your way toward the center of the plate) of the strawberry ring, arrange a circle of the regular sized marshmallows. Stand them upright, short side up, and place them side-by-side with the long sides touching each other to minimize gaps.

On the inner side of the marshmallows (again, working your way toward the center of the plate) arrange a ring of the raspberries. Have the flat side of the berry down on the plate with the tip pointed upward just like you did with the strawberries. This is to help them stay in place and not roll around.

On the inner side of the raspberry ring, arrange another ring of the regular sized marshmallows.

You should now have two, red berry rings and two, white marshmallow rings.

In the center of the plate and berry/marshmallow rings, place the star-shaped cookie cutter.

Fill the cookie cutter with the small marshmallows until it is completely white and there are no visible gaps.

In the remaining space between the marshmallow-filled cookie cutter in the center of the plate and the ring of regular sized marshmallows, fill it with blackberries or blue berries.

Tada! A mother f-in' berry shield (language!) Sorry, a very berry shield.

By Thor's hammer! These are delicious.

Muenster Mjolnir

Ingredients:

1 block of Muenster cheese (8 oz)

25 pretzel sticks

Cut the block of Muenster cheese into small squares, 5x5 for a total of 25. There should be two sides that are just a bit longer than the others for more of a rectangle. If you only get 4x4, that's okay, too.

Gently push one pretzel stick into one of the longer ends. Do not push it all the way through. Push it about 2/3 of the way and stop before it pushes out through the other side.

Arrange on a plate.

Behold! The power of cheese hammers. Everyone will be able to pick these up.

Ants on a Log

Ingredients:

Celery sticks

Peanut butter

Raisins

Wash and cut the celery stalks to be about 3 inches long.

Using a butter knife, spread a thin layer of peanut butter along the concave center of the celery stick.

Put three raisins on top of the peanut butter.

Enjoy! It's a classic lunchtime snack.

There you have it. Three Marvel themed, guilt-free snacks to enjoy with your next MCU movie night. Stress eat through the battles and cry-eat through all the emotional pulls on your heart strings without worrying about all of Tony Stark's emotional baggage going straight to your thighs.
